I’ve am currently located in Southern California and have been in whippets since 1992. I’m a current member of the American Whippet Club. Having had dogs my entire life, I started with Italian Greyhounds (which I still love - but currently don't own) just after college and transitioned over to whippets because of a love of racing and coursing.
My early mentors in the breed were Cheri Boutelle, Queenies Whippets and Jean Schroeder, Willabe Whippets. When living in Indiana, I was an active member of the Ohio and Missouri clubs. When I lived in Washington, I was actively involved with WWWA and ORCC. I made some great friends early on... Joanne Stewart, Lookout Whippets, Kathy Feldman, Nicole Geders (Nicole is who brought me into the sport of whippets by inviting me to bring my IG's out to run) and Jean Balint, Wyndsor Whippets.
My vision of the whippet is the ultimate family companion, personality being the most important. When it's all said and done, we have to live with them! Health issues are important, I continue to stay current on the issues affecting whippets and will test for those things in my breeding program. Performance is my passion, I strive to own/train/breed all-around performance dogs with longevity in mind. And lastly, but part of the fun and vanity of it all - good looking dogs! Besides, since no one has figured out how to pick the fastest one in the litter, how else are you gonna pick one (after pedigree research that is)?!
I have two wonderful children – 11 year old Tyler who besides loving the dogs enjoys baseball, football, basketball, helping his grandpa build his hotrod, and occasionally showing the dahlias he grows and 5 year Sydney who by the time she was one year old had been out in the Open Field and to three Nationals and who just started kindergarten and enjoys dancing and gymnastics!
